At Dr. Coopersmith, Dr. Bercovici & Associates Dental Centre in Montreal, our dentists perform a variety of oral surgery procedures to treat dental issues and help improve your oral health.
What is Oral Surgery?
Defects, diseases and injuries of the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, teeth, jaws and face need to be quickly and accurately diagnosed and surgically treated.
While we always prefer to use the least invasive treatment possible to remedy any given dental issue, in some cases less invasive options are just not enough. Oral surgery may be needed.
Dental implants are small titanium screws which function similar to natural tooth roots. These are surgically placed into your jaw bone as part of the process to replace a missing tooth and restore your smile. Together with a tooth replacement such as a dental bridge or crown, a dental implant looks and feels much like a natural tooth.
Dental implants can treat a number of oral health issues, such as restoring facial structure, resolving jaw joint pain and bite issues, and improving the aesthetic appearance of your smile. They can also prevent misalignment and the resulting issues. Dental implant procedures generally take between 2 and 9 months, depending on your treatment plan.
While we always prefer to save a natural tooth as it results in fewer complications for most patients, there are some cases where this proves impossible. If a tooth is too severely damaged as a result of injury, gum disease or decay, your dentist may need to remove it.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
This final set of molars emerges in the back corners of a normal adult mouth and may be problematic if they grow in the wrong positions or are overcrowded. If your wisdom teeth are causing oral hygiene issues, your dentist may recommend removing them to help preserve your oral health.
